Amgen Tour of California 2018

The Amgen Tour of California included a leg that passed through Camarillo.  I helped my close friends at Dragon Fly Vision with the video edit out in the field.  Here’s the final product.

Avid Connect 2016

The Avid Connect conference is run by the Avid Customer Association and is about to wrap up while NAB ramps up.   As an audio editor, I wasn’t sure how much of the conference was audio centric.  Although there were quite a few sessions related to audio or Avid Pro Tools, most of the keynote content […]

NAB 2015

It was my first time at NAB this year.  Epic.  Best word I can use to describe the show.  The Las Vegas Convention Center is gigantic and NAB used all the halls.  It was too much to pack in one day.  Among other things, I got to use a broadcast quality camera rig, made myself into […]

137th AES Convention

The 137th AES Convention finally made its way back to Los Angeles after a 12 year hiatus. It ran from October 9th to the 12th. 137th AES Convention at the Los Angeles Convention Center I wasn’t sure what to expect of the convention since it was my first time. I could only compare it to SQL […]

AES Auro 11.1 Demo

The AES LA Chapter is probably the best out there and to prove that, the team coordinated a demonstration of the Auro 11.1 format by Barco at the Fox Studios in Culver City. Prior to last night’s demo, I actually hadn’t heard of this format before. Apparently it’s gaining traction and there’s a handful of […]

Another visit to SAE Institute LA, this time for IMSTA FESTA.  It’s “an annual celebration and exhibition of music technology showcasing major audio technology companies and their music software.” The highlight of this year’s FESTA were the panel discussions including the keynote by the acclaimed Tony Maserati of Mirrorball  Entertainment.  Unfortunately, I didn’t attend all of the panels because […]

AES Meeting at the Hollywood Bowl

The Los Angeles AES meeting was at the Hollywood Bowl yesterday.  It was a blast.  We were given about a 2 hour tech review of the L-Acoustics line arrays.  Each L/R array is powered by 48kW of power!  Center and side fills were also L-Acoustics.  The FOH and monitor mix are powered by Yamaha’s Commercial Audio CL series and PM5D series of […]

Music Now 2012

I had a great time working the SBCC Music Now 2012 show April 29th.  Setup the monitor wedges, EQs, and amps. During the show, I worked the monitor mix with my partner in crime Michele on the Midas Venice F32.  We recorded all 32 tracks into the school’s Pro Tools 10 HD rig. Check out the Music Now […]
